Course Description
The aim of this course is to facilitate the learning of concepts and practices related to human resource development (HRD). The course will emphasise the role of HRD in operationalising corporate strategy and in the creation and management of organisational knowledge. You will learn about contemporary adult learning and HRD theories. You will learn how to integrate this knowledge when undertaking the analysis, design, implementation and evaluation of effective HRD interventions in organisations.

On the successful completion of this course you will be able to:
CLO1: Differentiate between human resource development (HRD) and other human resource management functions.
CLO2: Explain and apply significant concepts and theories underpinning HRD.
CLO3: Develop skills in identifying HRD needs and in designing, implementing and evaluating HRD programs.
CLO4: Explain the strategic importance of HRD in the success of organisations within the context of social and environmental pressure.
CLO5: Critically analyse and evaluate contemporary HRD practices.
CLO6: Effectively work with others and communicate about practical and innovative HRD practices.
