This is the second in a series of 3 courses leading to the completion of a minor thesis in Engineering Management.

It essential that you have completed the course manu1062 and have developed a detailed research proposal 


Course Description

To provide experience in the conduct of practical, problem centred research and investigation into resolving real-world problems or opportunities.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

To provide opportunity for project based experience and to develop the ability of the student in the conduct of practical, problem centred research and investigation, focussed on resolving real-world problems and opportunities through the application of Engineering Management discipline-based knowledge and skills.

Capabilities

By the conclusion of this subject students will be able to demonstrate:
1. understanding of the key issues raised in the project
2. application of creative problem solving
3. development of critical thinking about key issues
4. development of strategies reflecting responsible thinking and action in problem solving
5. capacity for strategic thinking
6. awareness of opportunities to extend scope of current approaches
7. active leadership in the management and implementation of an investigative project.



Overview of Learning Activities

Students will undertake self directed or, by arrangement, group based investigative project work under the guidance of an academic supervisor. The project will extend on learning about research and investigative project methods and will implement the research strategies developed in the course MANU1062 (Research Investigation & Analysis).

Assessment will be through the preparation and submission of a project report to be submitted at the end of the semester.
