Course Description

This course introduces the fields of Procurement Management and Global Sourcing. It explores the central concepts of organisational procurement, global sourcing and interfaces of these to the other areas of an organisation. This course provides opportunities to examine issues such as organisational procurement process, global sourcing process, supplier selection process, supplier management and other strategic issues.

This course includes a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

CLO1. Critically assess and apply selective concepts and theories in the field of procurement management and global sourcing for effective management of organisational procurement. CLO2. Investigate techniques & design and select appropriate approaches to procurement management and global sourcing. CLO3. Critically evaluate alternative procurement management and global sourcing options in the context of a flexible global supply chain. CLO4. Demonstrate organisational and communicative skills in a group to critically analyse situations and develop solutions to procurement-related problems.

These may include quizzes; assignments; prescribed readings; sourcing, researching and analysing specific information; solving problems; conducting  presentations; producing written work and collaborating with peers on set tasks or projects.
