Course Description
In this subject students investigate the broader frameworks of quality systems, including the legal implications of poor quality products, the safetyMAP occupational health and safety system, and issues of marketing and customer service.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
On completing this subject students will be:
aware of the legal implications of poor quality
be able to apply the safetyMAP approach
be able to design quality systems to achieve high levels of customer service
Overview of Learning Activities
The course is offered as three self-contained modules, each consisting of lectures and/or workshops. A different lecturer typically delivers each module, and each module is assessed independently.
Students are expected to carry out pre-reading for each class, and to read and think widely about the various topics - not confine themselves to the material delivered in the class. It is worth noting that students are expected to do at least 3 hours work outside class for every one hour of contact time.

Overview of Assessment
Generally students will be expected to complete an assignment or project in each module and to sit a test. The test will be in the fifth week of the module and the project or assignment should be submitted at that time, although this is negotiable with the lecturer.
