Course Description
This foundational course focuses on introducing you to the underlying concepts and principles that explain entrepreneurship. After completing this course, you will have examined the personal characteristics and skillsets that make up a successful entrepreneur and explored the resources required for a successful entrepreneurial journey. This course is focused on helping you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, which will enable you to create innovative ideas that address commercial, social and environmental problems. You will develop your own creative abilities and an alertness to the volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous, and hyper-connected (VUCAH) environment around you. You will use these skills to seek out entrepreneurial opportunities and to evaluate the financial, environmental and social impact of entrepreneurial ventures.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:
CLO1: Apply knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovation to support continuous personal and professional development to create viable entrepreneurial venture.
CLO2: Identify and analyse the personal attributes that are critical in successfully identifying and developing an entrepreneurial venture.
CLO3: Apply an entrepreneurial mindset to identify and systematically evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities when developing innovative business solutions, including consideration of their social impact and sustainability.
CLO4: Analyse the impact of a range of social, cultural, technological and regulatory influences in the process of creating for-profit ventures.
CLO5: Develop communication and team building skills to present independent and creative ideas in a variety of professional contexts.
Overview of Learning Activities
Your learning will occur through a variety of experiences, which include lectures, in-class activities, independent study and opportunities for formative feedback. You will be expected to make a commitment to actively and constructively participate in class-room discussions and other activities in addition to weekly reading and careful planning of assessment tasks.
