Course Description

Production Management for Fashion & Textiles aims to extend student understanding of industry production management issues specifically within global/offshore systems. This will be achieved by addressing topics such as onshore/offshore production management, quick response and quality systems.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

On completion of this course students will be able to:
- Identify fundamental production management issues as are appropriate for different locations and product types
- Critically analyse and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages between different production systems and locations
- Strategically plan quality processes within production systems
- Critically analyse, evaluate and implement offshore production initiatives

Overview of Learning Activities

The planned learning experiences for the course are a combination of lectures and individual assignments and group projects. Appropriate specialist guest lecturers may be used.
The course will be delivered using online class discussion, research activities and group projects. Online delivery methods/tools that will be used within this course will include: web resources for course information, threaded discussion, live chat, and library/electronic databases for research and reference.
