Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

Successful completion of eMerging Media 1 and eMerging Media 2. Students are expected to be in the post-production stage of their documentary project.


Course Description

Students will conclude development of an individual documentary project, commenced in eMerging Media 2. Students will research and hopefully procure distribution of their project.

Students will be expected to articulate how theory is engaged with in their projects. Students will develop relevant project management skills, and deepen their knowledge of new developments in the media industries. They will be able to discuss the relevance of emerging media to their career paths.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Students should:

  • complete an emerging media project with a high level of sohistication;
  • illustrate that they have addressed a specific audience by finding appropriate distribution;
  • be able to articulate the theory informing their work to a high level of competence;
  • reveal research and conceptual skills integrated into their professional practice;
  • be able to think strategically;
  • be able to articulate the role emerging media might play in their career.



Overview of Learning Activities

This course is more based on a supervision model than a class model, because it is expected that you will have specific needs that won’ t be well met in a group situation. Several class sessions will be held, in which a lecture / technical tutorial model will be followed. At this advanced stage in your project and your student life, it is expected that you will negotiate any specific needs prior to the tutorial sessions.
