Course Description
Networked Media concentrates on authoring, publishing and distributing online media. It situates current developments in an historical context, to assist you to understand how online networks function.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
This is an elective, which will complement the learning outcomes you are developing in your program.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Examine & analyse the differences that networked digital environments have made to ways of authoring, publishing and distributing media.
- Design and produce media content for online networked environments at a basic level.
- Work collaboratively within networked digital environments.
Overview of Learning Activities
You will be actively engaged in learning that involves a range of activities such as digital lectures, tutorials, group and class discussion, group activities and individual research.

RMIT will provide you with resources and tools for learning in this course through our online systems.
A list of recommended learning resources will be provided by your lecturer, including books, journal articles and web resources. You will also be expected to seek further resources relevant to the focus of your own learning.
Extensive use of resources from the School of Media & Communication Technical Store, radio edit suites, video edit suites and the computer labs are required. Security swipe card access is required to access these spaces. The broader resources of the library and the AFI Research Collection will also be valuable for students in this course.

Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment may include content production for networked communication platforms, reports and presentations.
