This course explores the origins and development of business strategy, selected strategic paradigms, competing or alternative theoretical frameworks and their implications.
The course focuses on different perspectives to the role of strategy in organisational success. and examines concepts, theoretical frameworks and techniques that are useful in gaining knowledge of the strategic management process, with particular emphasis on strategic inputs, strategic actions (strategy formulation, and strategy implementation) and strategic outcomes.

Course Description
This course explores the process and practice of contemporary business strategy in diverse contexts, through its interconnected nature of strategic issues. The course focuses on three distinct elements underpinning contemporary strategic conditions and issues. A practical template for analysing strategic situations is explored and applied: strategic position, strategic choices, and strategy in action. This approach provides a comprehensive and integrated framework to select essential concepts and techniques to provide the basis for influential strategy recommendations.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:
1. Identify and apply the key theoretical and conceptual components of contemporary strategic conditions to diverse organisation contexts including non-profit, sustainability and digital transformation. 2. Analyse, evaluate and apply strategy frameworks as tools of informed strategic thinking for real-time authentic case-study analysis 3. Effectively in teams create, evaluate, and implement strategic options through practical application of concepts and techniques 4. Explore concepts and approaches beyond the mainstream of strategic thinking through a culturally diverse lens. 5. Develop enhanced critical thinking, analytical decision-making, and communication capabilities through effective collaboration with peers.Overview of Learning Activities
This course is offered at several campuses with delivery modes and learning activities adapted to local contexts. Diverse modes include participation in face to face and or virtual tutorials, workshops, seminars, and/or self-directed activities. You will explore through an authentic, active, and applied signature pedagogy a range of contemporary strategic issues underpinned by theoretical and conceptual insights to real-world cases. While the learning activities may vary across local contexts, the capabilities to be developed and the learning outcomes remain consistent.
