Course Description
This course creates a nexus between the practice of drawing and animation, to encourage students to develop a deeper understanding of the developmental and temporal aspects of drawing/mark making and its translation to the moving image. Incorporating both collaborative and individual class projects, this course will also be complimented by a range of lectures, demonstrations and group tutorials.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
This course provides you with the ability to:
- Consider and incorporate a wide range of time-based experiments, into a series of short projects
- Gain confidence in experimental drawing processes and its relationship to the moving image
- Critically discuss your own work and the work of others in relation to the key concepts of traditional and contemporary drawing/moving image technologies
- Utilise appropriate visual language to articulate the conceptual ideas in your work
- Safely handle photographic and editing tools and processes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

- Gain confidence in both observational and conceptual drawing and its relationship to the moving image.
- Critically discuss your own work and the work of others in relation to the key concepts of traditional and contemporary drawing/moving image technologies

Overview of Learning Activities
This course is a practical, studio-based course that will introduce you to ways in which drawing, time and the moving image come together. It will also require you to engage in both collaborative and solo projects to build your capacity in the concepts and processes.

RMIT will provide you with resources and tools for learning in this course through our online systems.
Facilities for practical learning are provided in the studio but students should provide their own materials (eg. Paper, drawing mediums and data storage). RMIT library facilities recommended, no specific text books required.

Assessment Tasks
1. Mid semester presentation 35% (CLO 1,2,4,5)
2. Resolved Solo Project 55% (CLO 1,2,4,5)
3. Feedback & Reflection 10% (CLO 3)
