Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

There are no pre-requisites for this course. There is one co-requisite course, which is PERF 2056 Music Industry Placement.


Course Description

This course aims to integrate work and learning on two levels:

• Integration of previous and current learning in courses that have been completed in the BA (Music Industry) to date and
• Integration of previous and current learning in the workplace as part of the Music Industry Seminar course.

The course also aims to provide a transition to a permanent position in an organization.
This course is completed in the final semester of the BA (Music Industry) program.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

On completion of this course you should be able to:

• Identify how the major structure and functions of an organization will impact on your completion of a Music Industry report in the workplace.
• Identify major external/internal stakeholders and how their needs impact on the Music Industry report and Learning Portfolio.
• Apply appropriate discipline knowledge to address a problem/issue in the workplace.
• Demonstrate effective collaboration with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrate and reflect on achievements in professional goals as well as understand requirements for future development.



Overview of Learning Activities

This course will be characterised by the following combination of activities:

• Workshops to assist completion of the Music Industry Report and the Learning Portfolio as well as ongoing career development.
• Individual consultations in the workplace.
• Small group discussions (face to face and/or online) designed to facilitate peer assisted learning in the development of the Learning Portfolio.
• Online-guided discussion groups designed to facilitate information exchange between students.
• Learning Portfolio (evidence of learning achievement).

Overview of Assessment


The assessment


You will be create a placement  report: length, 3000 words. This component will be 100% of  the assessment in this course.
The report should include specific evidence of tasks undertaken including observation of activities, skills developed and the applications from the experience of the placement, the extent to which you have integrated music industry skills and knowledge acquired during your tertiary education into your industry placement and reflections on achievements and  aspirations relating to  your professional goals and requirements for future development.

Grading
Grades available are Fail (NN) and Pass no higher grade available (PXP).

Pass: the work submitted and /or presented satisfies the requirements published in the Course Guide

A pass grade on the assessment task is required for satisfactory completion of this course.
