Course Description
In this course you will explore the key concepts of interactivity, user experience design and information architecture, and develop interactive web-based projects. A focus will be the development of web pages, website design and introductory functions of web authoring and coding. This will enable you to design and construct individual pages and websites with a view to the end user and how they will interact with the content. In the course you will develop skills in planning and producing web projects, which includes organising and delivering content to users while applying recent advances in technology.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
You will be assessed on your development against the following program learning outcomes:
- Communicate using diverse formats and strategies to audiences within and external to your discipline.
- Apply a body of theoretical and practical knowledge and specific skills in media and communication, in which to base your professional practice or future study.
Upon the successful completion of this course you will be able to:
- Discuss the key concepts of interactivity, user experience design, and information architecture for web-based environments.
- Investigate and select the appropriate technology to meet the demands of interactive design problems.
- Analyse user needs, organise information and create navigation strategies.
- Control the visual presentation of typography, colour and layouts through scripting languages and coding for delivery across multiple platforms.
- Reflect on the effectiveness of web projects in terms of user-centred design concepts

You will be engaged in learning that involves a range of face-to-face activities such as workshops, lectures, tutorials, group and class discussion and individual research.
