Course Description

This course will build upon your existing knowledge and skills in Medical Imaging and introduce you to more advanced Medical Imaging examinations and procedures. In this course you will continue to develop your radiographic positioning skills and techniques as applied to radiographic imaging and develop your awareness of autonomous practice and teamwork.

On successful completion of this course you should be able to:

  1. Perform simulated diagnostic radiographic examinations with justification of selected patient positioning techniques and technical factors.
  2. Describe and discuss knowledge of fluoroscopic, angiographic, dental and paediatric radiographic examinations.
  3. Illustrate advanced knowledge of plain radiographic techniques.
  4. Apply critical thinking and appraisal skills to a wide range of current literature.
  5. Select appropriate methods of enquiry to gather and effectively utilise peer reviewed literature to support a logical argument in an academic piece of writing.

Overview of Learning Activities

You will participate in a range of teacher directed learning activities including lectures, tutorials and laboratory classes which will comprise 60 hours. You are also expected to undertake an equivalent 60 hours of independent learning.

You will be expected to make use of the online Learning Management System (LMS). This resource provides a range of materials aimed at supporting your learning and you are encouraged to actively use this site and the material it contains.
