Successful completion of at least 8 courses in the Bachelor of Business in Business Information Systems degree.


Course Description

The course is designed to create awareness of the employability skills and attributes required of ICT professionals within a  global job market.  The course promotes the development of the necessary skills and knowledge to get a job and to transition smoothly into the workplace.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

On completion of the WIL/Co-op course you will be able to:
▪ articulate employability skills required of IT professionals
▪ prepare a professional development plan to address individual skills gaps
▪ prepare a professional job application that addresses the key selection criteria in job advertisements
▪ perform effectively in a behavioural interview situation
▪ conduct an organisational analysis
▪ develop strategies for transitioning smoothly into the workplace
▪ communciate persuasively and professionally both in speech and text
▪ manage interpersonal relationships
▪ develop an e-portfolio that provides evidence of personal and professional skills development


Students will develop individual e-portfolios in preparation of their co-op year (and then review and update them over the duration)


Overview of Learning Activities

Learning activities will include weekly workshops with individual and team-based exercises. Students will develop individual e-portfolios in preparation of their co-op year (and then review and update them over the duration)

Students will have access to online course materials on the Learning Hub and additional online information from RMIT Library, Career Development and Education and Learning Skills Unit.
