Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

While there are no formal pre-requisites for this course, this is an intermediate level Entrepreneurship course. The course is designated as a second year (mid-degree) subject in the Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship). An understanding of the fundamental principles of entrepreneurship and some practical start-up experience are assumed.

Course Description

A new form of entrepreneurship is evolving. Instead of focusing on one country, today’s innovative start-ups are looking globally for ideas, funding, people and markets.  This course is designed to introduce you to the theory and tools of taking an entrepreneurial business internationally or globally in both established and emerging markets.

Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development


On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

CLO1: Identify issues and challenges facing global start-ups and outline the effect on companies aiming to go global during the early stages of their development and growth.

CLO2: Reflect on the personal qualities of a global entrepreneur and consider your potential and opportunities to become a global entrepreneur.

CLO3: Identify and assess global market opportunities for venture creation and growth.

CLO4: Generate creative entrepreneurial solutions to align with global market opportunities. 

CLO5: Communicate effectively, entrepreneurial solutions to global market opportunities.

In this course you will be encouraged to be an active learner. Your learning will be supported through various in-class and online activities comprising individual and group work. These may include quizzes; assignments; prescribed readings; sourcing, researching and analysing specific information; solving problems; conducting presentations; producing written work and collaborating with peers on set tasks or projects.
