You will have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma component of the Master of Applied Science (Wellness)
Course Description
This course provides students enrolled in the Master of Applied Science (Wellness) with the opportunity to integrate their wellness studies and areas of interest in a project that applies wellness strategies in a real-life setting such as a work, community or healthcare setting.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
The course is designed to provide the community with graduates who have the capabilities to plan and implement wellness strategies utilising reliable information and evidence, and to evaluate the outcomes.
On successful completion of this project you will be able to:
• Identify the need for a wellness strategy in a given location
• Evaluate the published literature on wellness strategies
• Design and plan a simple wellness project utilising an appropriate theoretical/participative approach such as action research
• Conduct a wellness project
• Develop a plan to evaluate the outcomes of the project
• Communicate findings in an appropriate format.
Overview of Learning Activities
The learning activities and resources included in this course are:
• Online lessons delivered through the DLS (Distributed Learning System) where syllabus material will be presented, explained and discussed.
• Private study and activities, inlcuding completing a literatire review and implementing a project while working through the course materials as presented in the DLS
.• Online discussion groups and peer-reviewed online group activities and tasks.
.• To help you meet the assessment requirements, interactive online activities, tests and discussions will provide opportunities for self-assessment and feedback from staff and/or other students.
Overview of Learning Resources
Students will be able to access course information and learning materials through the Learning Hub (also known as online@RMIT or the DLS). Lists of relevant reference texts, resources in the library and freely accessible Internet sites will be provided. Weblinks are provided throughout the Learning Package so that you can directly access these readings.
Overview of Assessment
The assessment for this project is based on submission of a literature review and proposal of the planned strategy, plus a final report on the conduct of the project including a plan for its evaluation.
The aim of this assessment is to equip you to undertake wellness projects in real-life settings.
