Course Description
The course aims to support your Music Industry Internship experience with face-to-face and on-line coursework activities to develop your critical engagement with the music industry. You will create a Portfolio of work which evidences internship activities and demonstrates how you have integrated skills and knowledge acquired in your program into the workplace.
The course is designed to facilitate your transition to future engagement with music industry experience.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
At the conclusion of the course you will be able to:
- respond to the multi-skilled nature of music industry practices
- develop interpersonal and organisational networks related to sound-design communities and industries
- initiate sound-design projects in industry and community settings
- Discuss the major structure and functions of a music industry organisation
- Apply appropriate discipline knowledge to address a problem/issue in the music industry workplace
- Identify current and future music industry trends
- Demonstrate effective collaboration with people from diverse backgrounds
- Reflect on achievements in professional goals as well as identify requirements for your future development.
Overview of Learning Activities
You will take part in a mixture of weekly face to face and on-line seminars. In these seminars you will discuss the nature and progress of your internship with your lecturer and student colleagues. Suggestions on how to make the best of your internship experience will be offered. Advice on developing workplace relationships and relevant music industry skills will also be given.
Overview of Learning Resources
You will be encourage to make use of on-line an journal to develop content for the portfolio report to be submitted for assessment. Readings and on-line materials will be suggested in relation to the general nature of undergraduate internships and specific to individual internships.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment will involve the development and presentation of a portfolio of work which explores how you integrated your degree program experience into your internship experience. The Portfolio can be developed as an on-line report. Content can be documented through a range of written, audio and visual texts.
