Course Description

This course provides students with industry experience under the supervision of a suitably qualified engineer that meets the criteria for full-membership of Engineers Australia. The course follows the Engineers Australia stage 1 and stage 2 competencies for professional engineering status.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

On successful completion of this course, students will gain capabilities in:
GC1: High levels of technical competence in the field
GC2: Be able to apply problem solving approaches to work challenges and make decisions using sound engineering methodologies
GC3: Be able to apply a systematic design approach to engineering projects and have strong design skills in their stream
GC4: Communicate effectively across all modes: listen, speak, write and draw
GC5: Apply the principles of lifelong learning to any new challenge
GC6: Balance the technical, economic, social and ethical demands of a problem in sustainable and culturally sensitive ways


On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
• Demonstrate successful completion of the industry experience
• Gain personal and interpersonal skills related to work carried out in an industry setting
• Identify health and safety requirements for engineers in the work-place
• Learn technical skills associated with the industry experience
