Course Description

This course prepares you apply construction theory in professional practice scenarios. The objectives of this course are to: develop your understanding of how construction techniques, measurement and estimating, and process planning are applied to a medium density building; integrate and apply skills and knowledge developed so far in the Construction Management program to solve problem based industry scenarios; address issues faced by the industry in areas of construction risk with a focus on building services, environmental management and compliance.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

• PLO1: Determine and apply complex construction management theory to your professional practice and/or further study
• PLO2: Professionally communicate to a range of audiences, demonstrating in depth knowledge of the discipline and of the needs of diverse construction management stakeholders
• PLO3: Apply logical critical and creative thinking to analyse, synthesise and apply theoretical knowledge and technical skills to formulate evidenced based solutions to industry problems or issues
• PLO5: Collaborate effectively with others and demonstrate intellectual independence and autonomy to solve problems and/or address industry issues or imperatives
• PLO6: Critically examine and reflect on the profession, in local and/or global contexts, and question accepted interpretations and decision making 

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

1. CLO1: Interpret and apply principles of construction management in a BIM environment
2. CLO2: Analyse and apply construction techniques, measurement and estimating and process planning in a BIM environment
3. CLO3: Analyse theoretical knowledge and reflect on professional practice to develop solutions to construction planning and design problems
4. CLO4: Apply BIM modelling skills for project budgeting and scheduling
