Course Description
In this course you will be introduced to learning and teaching physical education in primary schools and the central role movement plays in the healthy development of the whole child. You will develop skills and knowledge about motor development in primary school-aged children. Engaging in a range of activities and methods, you will explore models which contribute to your capacity to teach physical education in diverse learning environments. Practical sessions are a key component of the course, assisting you to apply theory and knowledge of the physical education curriculum through play, games, dance, movement and physical activity.

Overview of Learning Activities
You will need to complete regular weekly learning tasks that may involve online activities, reading broadly, analysing video material and case studies, reporting critically on set questions, researching course topics, and completing prescribed assessment tasks. You will also be required to participate in practical activities and physical education games.

Suggested readings from current educational literature will be provided on the course website and will be drawn from highly regarded academic journals, books and conferences as well as reports, websites and other online resources.

Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of your learning. You will be able to develop your work in relation to your own specific areas of interest in your professional practice.
