Course Description

In this final semester course you will further develop your knowledge and skills in producing a polished product for your area of creative practice. You will refine the research, writing and production skills you acquired through prior study in an applied manner to solve specific project requirements. The course gives you the opportunity to produce an original project of a high aesthetic standard as a prime indicator of your abilities and creative talent. You will design a project that relates specifically to your own expertise, skills and interests.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

  • Apply a body of theoretical and practical knowledge and specific skills in media and communication, particularly in your discipline, in which to base your professional practice or future study.
  • Demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and innovation when identifying and solving problems in diverse contexts within your discipline.
  • Apply initiative and judgment in planning, problem solving and decision making in your practice or future study.


Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Design and develop an original creative project that reflects intention and ideas.
  • Refine concepts and develop creative approaches to presenting information.
  • Analyse and identify problems and challenges associated with specific projects.
  • Critically analyse and interpret a wide range of texts.
  • Critically reflect on your own and others’ projects.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. 

Assessment may include essays, reports, reflective papers, creative projects and presentations, individually and in groups. Assessment will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of your learning.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment 1: Group Placement & Industry Skills Workshop 25%. This assignment assesses CLO 1, 2 and 3.

Assessment 2: Personal Network Report [PNR] 25%. 
This assignment assesses CLO 1, 3 and 5.

Assessment 3: Final Project Portfolio 50%. This assignment assesses CLO 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
