Course Description
Approaches to Theories and Ideas introduces you to critical and reflective contexts for the development of your creative writing. Considering the philosophy and research of creative practice, concepts of methods and methodology will be discussed through a range of theoretical sources. You will respond to these ideas through both creative writing experiments and critical reflection on your practice.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
- Critically read and analyse a range of theoretical, historical, cultural and contemporary texts in order to inform and develop your professional practice.
- Demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and innovation when identifying and solving problems in diverse contexts within the discipline of creative writing.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
1. Identify key ideas and texts in creative writing theory.
2. Interpret critical and theoretical ideas through your own creative writing.
3. Research and reflect on your own and others’ creative writing.
