Course Description
This course explains key aspects of Australian employment law, including the analysis of common law principles applying the employer-employee relationship, as well as the statutory provisions governing employment.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Successful completion of Employment Law means that students should be able to:
CLO1 Evaluate the history and evolution of employment law in Australia.
CLO2 Analyse key aspects of relevant employment law legislation and case law.
CLO3 Critically assess and apply key legal rules to address a range of employment law issues.
CLO4 Apply an advanced and integrated knowledge of legislation and common law to current legal issues.
CLO5 Critically analyse and synthesise relevant legislation and common law to address complex and emerging legal issues in a range of contexts.
Overview of Learning Activities
Learning activities are designed around case-studies and problems that encourage critical discussion during seminars.
Students will be required to prepare answers to discussion questions every week before they come to seminars. This enables them to fully participate in class discussions.
