Course Description
This course will incorporate a WIL experience in which knowledge and skills is applied to a real or simulated work based environment. This course will cover the theory and practice of the planning, organising, and managing of event activities. Topics will include infrastructure and the environment; the industry’s stakeholders; marketing; human resources; contingency planning; legal issues; strategic Mgt; and research; analysis and evaluation.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

On completion of this course you should be able to:
- CLO1 – Explain the economic impacts generated by the event industry;
- CLO2 – Critically evaluate the project phases of an event, and strategies used for each phase;
- CLO3 - Describe the roles of a Professional Congress Organizer (PCO) and review the competitive nature of the environments;
- CLO4 - Develop Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Gantt chart;
- CLO5 – Critically analyse and manage the risks of an event; and
- CLO6 - Identify the project stakeholders and build a collaborative action plan that satisfies each stakeholder’s needs.
