Course Description
In this course you will be introduced to the principles of digital media in culture. You will apply these principles to analyse digital media practice in the contemporary context and in relation to media culture and history. The course includes a focus on the ways in which meaning can be represented and messages communicated through digital media. You will apply techniques for creating and manipulating digital designs that communicate messages through strong audiovisual, interactive and user-experience based narratives. The course also focuses on the notions and roles of intellectual property and copyright within digital media.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
You will be assessed on your development against the following program learning outcomes:
- Apply theoretical knowledge, conceptual skills and production techniques to the development of digital media solutions for communications problems.
- Critically analyse, synthesise and reflect on the role, application and implications of digital media works in both local and international contexts.
- Communicate using diverse formats and strategies fo audiences within and external to your discipline.
Upon the successful completion of this course you will be able to:
- Investigate and discuss how digital designs are used to represent meaning and communicate messages effectively.
- Create digital media designs that contain a cogent narrative or message.
- Apply digital editing and processing techniques to enhance and transform designs.
- Examine and discuss principles of intellectual property and copyright when generating content.
