Course Description

In this studio you will apply design thinking to the design process by developing a series of digital graphic, interactive, motion and/or sound design project, in response to a brief. You will focus on applying the knowledge and skills you have developed so far to the production process.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

You will be assessed on your development against the following Program Learning Outcomes:

  • Acquire knowledge of visual literacy and design theory, interactive and motion design, moving image, communications technologies, and digital media production skills and their application to digitally mediated communication.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge, conceptual skills and production techniques to the development of digital media solutions for communications problems.
  • Critically analyse, synthesise and reflect on the role, application and implications of digital media works in both local and international contexts. 


Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Investigate and discuss how design principles extend into visual, motion, sound and interaction design.
  2. Create design elements that move and/or interact with other elements within designs.
  3. Conceptualise designs and create plans, prototypes and/or storyboards for diverse design projects.
  4. Design and produce projects that integrate visual, motion, sound and interaction design concepts.
  5. Analyse and evaluate your own work and that of your peers.

You will be actively engaged in learning that involves a range of activities such as studios, project work, lectures, tutorials, class discussion, individual and group activities.
