Overview of Learning Activities
This course provides students with practical knowledge and understanding of project management processes based on the knowledge-base of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) framework, and/or Projects IN a Controlled Environment (PRINCE2) methodology.
You will take part in weekly lectures, class activities/exercises and group work related to the project/case study. These activities will be supported by class lecture topics and related readings.
The lecture is designed to introduce you to basic project management concepts and theories.
The tutorial is used for conducting project proposal preparation, and for solving and analysing project management exercises to help you develop specific project management skills. This will generally be completed around a case study problem / issue applicable to each of the discipline areas. These sessions generate experiential learning that give you valuable insights into how such matters need to be managed within the project to fulfil organisational needs. These activities also develop your practical skills described by the professional bodies such as CIPS, Australian Computer Society, and the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) Body of Knowledge and guidelines.
You will need to read the course notes, the textbook and recommended readings. These readings will develop and reinforce material presented and discussed in lectures.
For those who are interested to sit for the project management professional (PMP) exam, this course can help in fulfilling one of the requirements of “35 hours of project management education”.
