Course Description
This course builds on the approach to design theory and history gained in the History and Theory of Design 1 course. You will extend your investigations from the history of art and design as a study of emblematic objects, styles and spaces to an encounter with the largest and most important of mankind’s designed works — the City. How have we thought about, produced, and lived within our designs of human settlement, from their origins to today? You will approach the city from a variety of historical, thematic and theoretical points of view, while producing design works that reflect your own visions and lived realities of the city you inhabit.
