Course Description
This course is one of four advanced courses that make a total of ten courses in Japanese studies offered at RMIT University Vietnam.
This course will extend your communicative competence and proficiency in Japanese. Emphasis will be placed on the further development of your productive skills in a wide range of corporate settings. You will study different aspects of Japanese language and corporate culture through a range of authentic written and multimedia materials. You will critically analyse and reflect on contemporary issues in Japanese multinational corporations.
You will be encouraged to be responsible for your own learning and to build on your knowledge to a level where you can continue with further self-directed learning. The course will equip you with further language skills for diverse situations.
Classes are taught in Japanese.

In this course, you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

Course Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:
CLO1: Communicate increasingly fluently in both oral and written Japanese in work settings.
CLO2: Analyse and critique the use of the Japanese language in a diverse range of authentic work related spoken and written multimedia materials.
CLO3: Apply a wide range of language learning strategies you have acquired, and further demonstrate independent and autonomous learning.
CLO4: Analyse and debate some contemporary social, political and economic issues related to culture of Japanese multinational corporations.
Overview of Learning Activities
You will be able to work in pairs and small groups to develop your language skills. Oral exercises will provide you with opportunities to practise your spoken Japanese while you will use authentic materials to analyse specific discourses.
Various simulation, problem solving exercises and case studies are employed to expose authentic situations.
Class exercises are supported by language exchange sessions with native speakers, where appropriate Therefore, regular class attendance and commitment are important to support your learning.
Delivery may be face-to-face, online or a mix of both.

Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes. Assessment tasks may include group and individual assignments or projects, in-class quizzes, class presentations, essays and end of semester tasks. You will also receive verbal and/or written feedback from your lecturers and/or peers on your assessment tasks.
Assessment Tasks
Assessment Task 1: Report Writing, 40% (CLO1, CLO2 and CLO4)
Assessment Task 2: Notes Making, 20%, (CLO2 and CLO3)
Assessment Task 3: Case Study, 20% (CLO1, CLO2 and CLO4)
Assessment Task 4: Project-Based Learning, 20% (CLO1, CLO2, CLO3, and CLO4)
