Course Description

In this course, you will explore how the role of PR fits inside organisations such as not-for-profit, government and corporate. You will investigate the interrelationship between different business functions, including marketing, human resources and corporate affairs. 

In the course you will also examine internal and external modes of communication and relationships, and how they contribute to an organisation’s goals and objectives. You will develop the knowledge and skills to design collateral that addresses social, ethical and regulatory frameworks and meets community engagement expectations.

Program Learning Outcomes 

This course contributes to the following BP354 Bachelor of Professional Communication Program Learning Outcomes:

Course Learning Outcomes  

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:  

  • CLO 1: Identify different business functions and how they contribute to organisational strategies 
  • CLO 2: Describe and analyse the organisational communication needs of internal and external stakeholders 
  • CLO 3: Evaluate message strategies and channels used by organisational communicators to meet the needs of their stakeholders 
  • CLO 4: Design collateral to communicate the social, ethical and engagement activities of an organisation

Assessment Task 1: Organisational Analysis (30%), CLO 1, 2, 3, Individual
