Course Description
Step into the dynamic world of IT ethics! In this course, you will gain the practical and theoretical insights essential for navigating ethical conflicts in contemporary IT and Cyber Security workplaces. This course will build your confidence in identifying and talking about professional conflict, and in making and documenting common ethical decisions facing IT and Cyber Security professionals. Learning through diverse workplace scenarios, you will unravel the intricate threads that weave together social responsibility, legal considerations, and professional integrity. This course will introduce you to ethical issues surrounding a range of contemporary practice areas, including privacy and security, cloud computing and networking, virtual reality and sensor technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, environmental sustainability, hacking, and cybercrime.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
1. Identify practice considerations, contextual factors, and ethical lenses relevant to contemporary issues in IT and Cyber Security.
2. Apply an established model of ethical decision-making to identify, resolve, and document contemporary examples of professional ethical conflict.
3. Appraise ethical conflicts and decisions with reference to theories, principles, regulations and emerging issues from IT and Cyber Security.
4. Analyse the diverse perspectives of IT and Cyber Security stakeholders in relation to contemporary ethical issues.
5. Communicate ethical positions effectively to a range of stakeholder audiences.
6. Demonstrate ethical collaboration as a member of a professional team.
Overview of Learning Activities
Each week you will be expected to engage in a 2-hour lectorial and 2-hour tutorial, plus online independent and collaborative learning activities delivered through the course site (myRMIT Studies Course). Delivery may be face to face, online or a mix of both, known as hybrid. You will be expected to have completed any specified online activities before attending your weekly lecture.
You are encouraged to be proactive and self-directed in your learning. This means seeking information via the course site, RMIT library and discussion boards in the first instance and making early contact with the course team if you need additional support.

Overview of Assessment
This course includes three assessments. There are no hurdle tasks or final exams for this course.
Assessment Task 1: Online Quiz
Weighting: 20%
This will be a 1-hour, online quiz that may be taken any time within a 24-hour period.
This assessment task supports CLO1 and CLO2.
Assessment Task 2: Individual Multimedia Presentation
Weighting: 40%
This assessment task supports CLO1, CLO3, CLO4, CLO5 and CLO6.
Assessment Task 3: Written Report on Collaborative Decision-Making
Weighting: 40%
This assessment task supports CLO1, CLO2, CLO3, CLO4, CLO5 and CL06.
