Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop a gender lens using an intersectional approach, based on theoretical frameworks and value-based practices.
This unit supports the development of a gender lens, including attainment of the foundational theoretical frameworks required to apply a gender lens in practice.
It includes the development of the skills required to explore the impacts of gender inequity in work and society. It also helps build self-awareness of personal values and perceptions of gender equity and the ability to reflect on how these align with the values underpinning gender equity and equality.
This unit applies to practitioners and professionals with varying degrees of responsibility, working in roles that require an understanding of gender equity. This unit enhances the ability to reflect on own performance within known work environments and work practices.

Assessment Tasks
This course is assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment. To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessment tasks to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher when you have completed the assessment tasks. You should refer to the assessment plan which is available on Canvas for details of each assessment task and for detailed assessment criteria. Assessment Task 1: Knowledge questions Assessment Task 2: Case Study Analysis Assessment Task 3: Reflective Journal You will be given two (2) attempts for each assessment to demonstrate the required knowledge and skills. A third (3rd) attempt can only be offered after discussions between teacher and the Program Coordinator and is not automatic. Resubmissions beyond two (2) attempts are at the discretion of the teacher and/or coordinator.
