Course Description

This unit specifies the workplace performance required for an entry level worker to participate in work health and safety (WHS) processes in the workplace in order to ensure their own health and safety at work as well as that of others in the workplace who may be affected by their actions

Facilitator led class  on safety in the workplace: legal aspects, risks management, safe work practices and emergency procedures workplace via Power Point presentation and classroom discussion and small group activity.

Self managed research of their workplace, completion of the oral presentation (via Power Point)due Block 2 day 2) , including student induction sheet and third party evidence.  During the oral presentations students gain information of WHS issues in other dental practices.

Students to complete and submit Reflection Feedback of Oral presentations.
 


Teaching Schedule

Block 1 Day 3:  14:00 - 17:00 (3 hours)
Three-hour facilitator led classroom based lecture program via Power Point presentation, classroom discussion and small group activities on the role of the dental assistant in the dental practice at the front desk. Students are explained how to access the HLTWHS200A from myRMIT Studies (BlackBoard) and students commence and complete the oral presentation between Block 1 and Block 2.

Two hour facilitator led workshop, on safe work practices in the dental surgery, including with class discussion and small group activities. The HLTWHS200A Worksheet is collected.
