Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to research and apply techniques for
application to graphic design. The focus of the unit is on a general knowledge of graphic design techniques and
the practical application of those techniques.

Overview of Assessment
2 x projects
Students will be tutored with a verbal and/or written evaluation of their progress, within class time.
A final assessment of Competency Achieved or Not Yet Competent will be given at the end of the course when students will submit all completed work.
To be deemed competent students must satisfactorily complete all Learning Elements and related Performance Criteria.
Grading will be offered in addition to, and after, competency based assessment.
Assessment Tasks
Two graphic design briefs (50% each) will be assessed. They should demonstrate a variety of creative outcomes and applications
using different design techniques and approaches, in response to the specifications and requirements of each brief.

Attendance
The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that students attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.

All assessment tasks are required to be completed to a satisfactory level. If you are unable to complete any piece of assessment by the due date, you will need to apply for an extension.
