Course Description
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to organise domestic and overseas business travel, including developing associated itineraries, booking travel and accommodation, preparing travel related documentation and making travel arrangements.

Details of Learning Activities
Learning activities for full-time students will include "hands-on" participation in a simulated business environment (a Virtual Enterprise - VE) as well class-based theory and discussion based on the textbook, role play presentations, researching the Internet, library, DVDs and visits to Travel Agents.
Online activities using self-paced resources on myRMIT Studies will be used in order to develop the necessary underpinning skills and knowledge for this unit. Students will be provided with theory classes in a classroom/lab and also in the Virtual Enterprise, a simulated business learning environment. Learning activities are problem based and text book sourced.

Overview of Assessment
Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular unit of competency to be deemed competent. Students are advised that they will be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.
Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievements of each competency. Assessments will incorporate a variety of methods: direct questioning combined with a review of portfolios of evidence, review of authenticated documents from the training environment and demonstration of techniques.
In addition to the assessments, formative feedback is provided to the students throughout the duration of the course.

VE Domestic Travel Report
Students will organise a domestic travel business itinerary for their VE Manager to attend a sustainability conference in Adelaide. Students will refer to the RMIT Travel Policy for domestic travel www.rmit.edu.au
International Travel Project and Role Play
In a small group of THREE, students will create an overseas travel plan that will inclued preparation of all travel documentation and full budget for the business trip. They will allocate team roles and delegate project tasks equally to successfully present the compiled travel portfolio in hard copy format in a role play meeting with their client (classroom teacher to take on the role) in week 15.
Please note: You must achieve competence in all elements before a pass grade can be achieved for this course. Due to the complex nature of this unit, you may be required to demonstrate competency more than once.
Assessments submitted late will attract a DNS/NYC grade. Refer to Student Diary for Special Consideration/Extension of Time procedure.
N.B: Students, who have been granted special consideration or are required to resubmit, will be able to submit/sit their assessment by arrangement with the class teacher during the scheduled class time in weeks 17 or 18.
