Learning Outcomes

Details of Learning Activities

Learning activities for full-time students will include "hands-on" participation in a Virtual Enterprise a simulated business environment (VE) with theory classes in a classroom/lab. This is a holistic delivery method using the VE together with courses "Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices" and "Organise meetings".

Some learning activities will include a self-directed learning approach. Self-directed learning refers to organised activities that you will undertake independently, either as individuals or with other students, that are supervised by a teacher. This may include workplace research, library assignments, fieldwork and work placements. Learning activities are problem based and text book sourced. The VE/Workplace assessment requires the learner to consolidate their knowledge and skills, to produce a detailed Business Proposal as a report using the VE/Workplace Style Guide.
Online activities using self-paced resources on myRMIT Studies will be used by students in order to develop the necessary underpinning skills and knowledge for this unit. These activities may include, direct questioning combined with review of portfolios of evidence and oral or written questioning to assess knowledge of word processing software functions.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, homework, assignments, group and/or individual projects, in class exercises, written and practical assessments, problem solving exercises, presentations, direct observation of actual and simulated work practice, presentation of a portfolio of evidence which may comprise documents, and/or photographs and/or video and audio files, review of products produced through work-based or course activities.

Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. Students will be provided with feedback throughout the course to check their progress.

Assessment Tasks

Refer to the relevant marking criteria forms on myRMIT Studies

Please note: You must achieve competence in all elements before a pass grade can be achieved for this course. Due to the complex nature of this unit, you may be required to demonstrate competency more than once.

Assessments submitted late will attract a DNS/NYC grade. Refer to Student Diary for Special Consideration/Extension of Time procedure.  If an Extension of Time is granted note that the grade given will be either NYC/CA.

Portfolio of Documents

Full Time and Flexible Delivery (part-time) students will complete a portfolio of documents each week for assessment . Each document is to be submitted in the week allocated to allow for progressive feedback from your teacher. Full Time students will submit the portfolio documents in the weeks due to the class theory teacher. Part Time students will submit the portfolio documents in the weeks due via the electronic journal through myRMIT Studies as instructed. NB: In week 12 all students will collate all completed portfolio items and submit to the Assignment Box on Level 13.

VE/Workplace Assignment

Virtual World Application:
Students will participate in the Virtual Enterprise as their simulated work environment for one day a week. The students manage the business known as Reflective Records VE.
