Course Description

This unit covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to prepare, deliver and review a presentation to a target audience. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement

1. Plan and document presentation approach and intended outcomes

3. Select presentation aids, materials and techniques that suit the format and purpose of the presentation, and will enhance audience understanding of key concepts and central ideas
4. Brief others involved in the presentation on their roles/responsibilities within the presentation
5. Select techniques to evaluate presentation effectiveness

Participants will work individually and in groups.

Participants are also required to read the chapter from the recommended text relating to the session topic.

Overview of Assessment

The participant must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.

Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, workplace activities, in class exercises, quizzes, practical problem solving exercises and presentations. Participants are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met


Assessment Tasks

A major class based assessment – Conduct a presentation to peers and management - 50% of total mark.

A major work based assessment – Conduct a workplace OH&S meeting - 50% of total mark

This assessment requires you to prepare, present and review two presentations. One class based and one workplace based.

The purpose of this assignment is to develop your presentation skills to enable you to present to a range of audiences in a professional, engaging and confident manner.

A detailed assessment sheet will be distributed in class.
