This unit specifies the outcomes required to prepare a materials or sample board for client presentation, for interior decoration and design projects.

Learning Outcomes
This unit supports the attainment of skills and knowledge required for competent workplace performance in interior decoration and design operations of all sizes. The preparation of a materials board includes visual demonstration of colour, materials, samples, finishes and textiles used in the decoration and design project.

- Workshopping of student projects
Self-Directed Learning
Some activities will include a self-directed learning approach; self-directed learning refers to organised activities that students undertake independently, either as individuals or with other students that are supervised by a teacher. This may include workplace research, library assignments. Field trips and work placements.

• Effectively prepare a materials board for client presentation to provide the client with cost effective options which meet the project brief requirements
• Effectively apply design elements and principles to preparing a materials board for client presentation
• Comply with legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice and established safe practices and procedures for preparing a materials board for client presentation
• Communicate effectively and work safely with others in the work area
Assessment Tasks
Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills and will include:Prepare Materials Board is grouped with Soft Furnishings For Interiors,Decorate Residential Interiors, Drawing Techniques and in some cases Organise & Communicate Information.
This will allow us to assess your project work across several competencies.
All components must be addressed to gain a pass in this course and be deemed competent overall.
Task 1: Prepare & create presentation boards for a client
Task 2: Present boards to a client using a variety of communication techniques
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this course are graded.
You will receive feedback with verbal and/or written evaluation of your progress within class time. The submitted projects will be assessed with written feedback as well as a quality indicator that relates to separate components of the project and the overall outcome. At the completion of the course, grading will be offered in addition to, and after, competency based assessment.
All components must be addressed to gain a pass in this course and be deemed competent overall.
