This unit describes the knowledge and skills required to communicate effectively with young people (aged 12-25) in work roles with a specific focus on young people

Classes for this competency are taken throughout the academic year and are also incorporated into the work placement of 240 hours that students undertake as part of their studies.
Teaching Schedule
Students will take classes for this competency throughout the year in addition to their work placement committment of 240 hours, throughout the academic year. Assessments will be due during scheduled classes and towards the end of May.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment will include written tasks, oral presentations, class participation and work placement (240 hours).
Assessment Tasks
Students will participate in a range of assessment tasks for this competency, which will also incorporate 240 hours of work placement. Other assessment tasks will include class-based tasks including written and oral assessments, tests/exams, simulations and reflective journal entries.
A specific 400 - 600 word written task is due towards the end of May and is based on the practical placement to date. Students will be asked to address two questions which will demonstrate their learning and competency in this area.
