Course Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance

These skills and knowledge may be applied in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
The implementation is consistent with specific workplace and/or relevant legislative requirements in relation to first aid in teh youth sector.
Application of these skills and knowledge will be contextualised as required to address specific industry, enterprise or workplace requirements and to address specific risks and hazards and associated injuries in this sector.
Teaching Schedule
Classes are held in the first two weeks of the academic year so that students can be confident in their dealings with young people during their work placement (240 hours)
Studetns will learng how to do CPR as well as learn about various injuries they may come across in their work and how to treat them. How to call an ambulance and DRABC will also be taught.

Overview of Assessment
Styudnets wil lbe assessed through simulations and written and oral assessment tasks conducted during the class time. Students will gain competency in this unit when they are able to demonstrate they can do CPR and pass a written test at the end of the scheduled classes.
Assessment Tasks
Studnts will be asked to pass their CPR and a written test at the end of the scheduled class time. A pass in both must be recorded to be competent in this area.
