Course Description
This unit describes the learning outcomes, skills and knowledge required to generate design solutions in response to a particular design need.

Details of Learning Activities
Learning activities will take place in a studio, workshop or classroom using industry standard tools and resources.
You will complete exercises and industry style projects. You will also be required to undertake independent study.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills and will include tasks and projects.
Assessment tasks are:

Assessment Tasks
Assessment activities in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment outcomes. Summative assessment projects in this unit are graded.
To demonstrate competency in this course you need to engage in the assessment activities to a competent standard.

Project 1: The development and refinement of design solutions that promote and engage with the “R U OK? Day” event. Due in Week 8.
Project 2: The development and refinement of a visual concept for the AGDA Australian Poster Biennale competition. Due in Week 13
Cert IV in Design - Accelerated
2 x projects (formative and summative)
Project 1: The development and refinement of visual concepts for the AGDA Australian Poster Biennale competition. Due in Week 7
Project 2: The development and refinement of a packaging concept for a set of food products based on a culture & its cuisine. Due in Week 14
You will receive feedback with verbal and/or written evaluation of your progress within class time. The submitted work will be assessed with written feedback as well as a quality indicator that relates to separate components of each brief and the overall outcome.
At the completion of the course, grading will be offered in addition to, and after, competency based assessment.
