Course Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement the operational plan by monitoring and adjusting operational performance, producing short term plans for the department/section, planning and acquiring resources and providing reports on performance as required.

This course will be a combination of lectures, class exercises, case studies, and on line study. Students are expected to take part in the training activities and contribute through discussion and debate. Attendance is mandatory for all classes where there is an in-class assessment. Overview of Assessment
Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, homework, assignments, group and/or individual projects, in class exercises, written and practical assessments, problem solving exercises, presentations, direct observation of actual and simulated work practice, presentation of portfolio of evidence which may comprise documents, and/or photographs and/or video and audio files, review of products produced through work based or course activities.
Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. Students will be provided with feedback throughout the course to check their progress.

Evidence of the following is essential:

There are 3 assessments in the course. Students must pass all assessments to be competent in this course.
ASSESSMENT 1
Operational Plan for Business Project Due end of Week 5 Sunday 3.00am

Assessment 1. Students select an individual workplace-based project they are in charge of or closely involved in. They write a report on the background to the project, its aims, and prepare, consultatively, an operational plan for the project. The report includes tools such as a WBS and gantt chart, and collates, analyses and organises details of resource requirements. The student identifies KPIs to measure operational performance of the project and performance of team members vis a vis goals and KPIs..
ASSESSMENT 2

This individual report shows how the student uses organisational policies and procedures to acquire human and other resources for the project. Class and online exercises on resource acquisition will be incorporated.
ASSESSMENT 3
Operational Plan Monitoring Report . Due end of Week 16 Sunday 3.00am

This individual report shows how the operational plan was regularly monitored using KPIs. Adjustments are made to the operational plans as required. Unsatisfactory performance is analysed and responses proposed. Coaching skills are covered in an exercise watched as a DVD in class, and is incorporated into this assessment. Class and online exercises on budget variance information will be incorporated.

Submission Requirements
• Ensure that you submit assessments on or before the due date.
• Always retain a copy of your assessment tasks (hard copy and soft copy)
• When you submit work for assessment at RMIT University you need to use a cover sheet that includes a declaration and statement of authorship. Late Submission Procedures
You are required to submit assessment items and/or ensure performance based assessment is completed by the due dates.

Resubmissions (VET Programs)
If you are found to be unsuccessful in a Course Assessment Task you will be allowed one resubmission only. Your teacher will provide feedback regarding what you need to do to improve and will set a new deadline for the resubmission. The highest grade you will receive if your resubmission is successful is “CAG”.
If you are still not meeting the assessment requirements you must apply to your Program Manager in writing outlining the steps you will take to demonstrate competence in your course. Your submission will be considered by the Program Team and you will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.
