Course Description

In this course you will acquire the skills and knowledge required to work positively with the carers and families of people using the service based on an understanding of their support needs

This course applies to workers across a range of community services contexts.

Details of Learning Activities

Classes where information is shared through talks and group discussions, and exercises are conducted to apply learning. Time in class, will also be spent working on applied assessment tasks.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment task 1 -This task is a short-answer knowledge assessment task designed to assess your knowledge relating to working respectfully and positively with the carers and families of people and with people from diverse social and cultural groups and situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

Assessment task 2 - Case studies

Assessment task 3 - This task allows you to demonstrate your understanding of the challenges that you can face when working with carers and or families while recognising and respecting the social and cultural backgrounds of clients. It will also allow you to reflect on your own perspectives on diversity and demonstrate your understanding of various communication strategies.
