Course Description

In this course you will learn the skills and develop knowledge required to implement and monitor work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and work practices as part of a small work team.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral presentations, and through the application of learned skills and insights to your written tasks. Assessment Tasks

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace.  

To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Assessments:

HLTWHS003 AT1 Knowledge Assessment 

  • Knowledge based assessment involves questions to demonstrate knowledge of all aspects maintaining workplace health and safety.
  • Feedback provided on Canvas via Grade Centre and discussed verbally if required.  

HLTWHS003 T2 Workplace Risk Assessment

This assessment task allows you to conduct a Risk Assessment and complete  

  • Incident Report Form
  • Risk Assessment
  • Analysis Residual Risk Report
  • Feedback provided on Canvas via Grade Centre and discussed verbally if required.

HLTWHS001 AT3 WHS Logbook Assessment:

This assessment task allows you to demonstrate your skills and knowledge to ontribute to WHS:

  • provide WHS information to staff
  • participate in a WHS meeting, simulated emergency procedure  and WPS observation
  • Feedback provided on Canvas via Grade Centre and discussed verbally if required.

Results that apply to courses that are delivered and assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment are:
