Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups and situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

This unit applies to all workers.

Overview of Assessment

There are three individual assessment tasks consisting of case study analysis, role plays, and short answer questions. 


Assessment Tasks

You will be given two (2) attempts for each assessment to demonstrate the required knowledge and skills. A third (3rd) attempt can only be offered after discussions between teacher and the Program Coordinator and is not automatic. Resubmissions beyond two (2) attempts are at the discretion of the teacher and/or coordinator.

Assessment task 1- Role play: 

In this task, students are required to communicate face-to-face with a new client within in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions. The clients will have different diversity characteristics.

Assessment task 2- Role play:

In this task, students are required to communicate face-to-face with a new client within in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions. The clients will have different diversity characteristics.

Assessment task 3- Scenario Questions:

This assessment task allows students to demonstrate their ability to reflect on their own culture, community, society and cultural awareness. Students will answer knowledge questions in relation to different case study scenarios.
