Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify and work within the legal and ethical frameworks that apply to an individual job role.
This unit applies to community services and health workers who play a proactive role in identifying and meeting their legal and ethical responsibilities.

Details of Learning Activities
Classes are delivered during face to face workshops.
During classes, information is shared through talks and discussions and exercises will be conducted to apply learning.
Time is spent during classes for students to work on group assessment tasks. In your own time, you will be expected to keep up-to-date with the readings and videos that will be made available to you on Canvas. The classes, readings and videos will prepare you to be able to complete your course assessments.

Overview of Assessment
There are four individual assessment tasks consiting of case study analysis, role plays and short answer questions
Assessment Tasks
You will be given two (2) attempts for each assessment to demonstrate the required knowledge and skills. A third (3rd) attempt can only be offered after discussions between teacher and the Program Coordinator and is not automatic. Resubmissions beyond two (2) attempts are at the discretion of the teacher and/or coordinator.
Assessment task 1: Knowledge Questions
This assessment consists of ethical dilemma's, knowledge questions and legal requirements to demonstrate knowledge and learning of working legally and ethically in the community services sector.
Assessment task 2: Simulated workplace portfolio
This assessment is a simulated workplace and you will refer to the provided workplace documents on policy and procedures. Students will be required to reflect and provide responses relating to working ethically, legally and provide recommendations for workplace improvements.
Assessment task 3: Case study/Questions
Students work through two case studies and provide responses to prevent, address and manage ethical and legal issues that are presented in the workplace.
Assessment task 4: Role play
Student will undertake a role play to demonstrate recognising and responding to ethical dilemma's involving conflict of interest. Students will be required to discuss policies and procedures to support ethical and legal practices and provide recommendations for workplace improvements.
