Course Description
This unit describes the knowledge and skills required to establish, lead and participate in a groups using a collaborative, strengths-based approach.
This unit applies to any individual involved in planning and leading group activities. Groups may be formal or informal.

Overview of Assessment
There are three individual assessment tasks consisting of groupwork facilitation, project planning & delivery and short answer questions.
Assessment Tasks
You will be given two (2) attempts for each assessment to demonstrate the required knowledge and skills. A third (3rd) attempt can only be offered after discussions between teacher and the Program Coordinator and is not automatic. Resubmissions beyond two (2) attempts are at the discretion of the teacher and/or coordinator.
Assessment Task 1 - The objective of this assessment task is for students to demonstrate their skills to design and deliver a facilitated Icebreaker group activity with a group of at least 6 other students. Students will demonstrate their communication and interpersonal skills in this task. Students will be asked to seek feedback from their peers/group participants and write a self-assessment to evaluate their own performance.
Assessment Task 2 - The objective of this assessment task is for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills to work in a group to plan, design and deliver a facilitated group session to their fellow student peers.
Assessment Task 3 - The objective of this task is for students to demonstrate essential knowledge relating to key group work theory principles, group processes, group communication, process vs content, experiential learning, legal and ethical considerations, and evaluation methods.
