Course Description
The development and maintenance of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) systems that ensure a safe workplace without risks to health and in accordance with OHS legal requirements. Key features include establishment of OHS policies and procedures, risk assessment and the implementation, monitoring, control and evaluation of OHS management systems

Details of Learning Activities
Competency is demonstrated through weekly activities as well as four graded assessments. The weekly activities are done in class and online.
All weekly activities and the four graded assessments must be completed to demonstrate competency.
The weekly activities are designed to be completed in class, or with minimal out of class online activity.
All assessment is individual, but group work is used to build skills and knowledge. Students who have completed similar assessment in their workplace eg a full Hazard Identification, Risk Assesment and Risk Control cycle, may be exempt from all or part of an assessment task.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including in class exercises, written tests, presentations and case studies. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met
