Course Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required of complementary and alternative health care practitioners who provide services to people with an chronic health problem that support their health needs

Overview of Assessment
Assessment will include case study problem based learning with written and oral presentation requirements and repeated practical demonstration in work based or simulation environment.
Assessment Tasks
Written Assessment
You are required to complete a case study of a patient that may present for remedial massage treatment but have an underlying chronic disease. Each student will be given a case study to research and compose a written report present information on the chronic disease and plan a treatment protocol for the client.
Due: 7/9/09
Group Presentation
Following on from the case study report, you will be placed in groups to present your case study research and treatment plan to the class.
Due: 27/10/09
Supervised Workplace Treatments
Each student is required to complete 10 remedial massage treatments in the RMIT Student Remedial Massage Clinic
Please Note:
• Further details of assessment will be available in class.
• A student will be given one opportunity to resubmit any work marked as Not Yet Competent (NYC)
• Failure to submit assessment tasks by the due date requires a medical doctors certificate to be shown to the lecturer and the Program coordinator
• Final submission date for any reassessments is Monday 09 Novemeber 2009, work received after this date will not be marked.
