Course Description
This unit of competency, Ensure a safe workplace BSBWHS501A is delivered in the class Design Studio 2, together with Establish Networks BSBREL401A and Undertake Project Work BSBPMG522A. This unit enables students to develop an awareness of safe workplace practices and environments that exist within the interactive and digital media industry. This course covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain and evaluate the organisation’s occupational health and safety (OHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area in accordance with OHS legal requirements.

Work Placement:
It is a requirement of this program that all students participate in authentic work related tasks. These may be either simulated or in a real work environment. On occasion, we are approached by industry and given opportunities for students to apply for short term placements. When these placement opportunities arise, students are required to negotiate the specific details with the relevant program coordinator or teacher. All industry placements require students, RMIT staff and host organisations to sign a written agreement prior to the commencement of the placement.
